Nashville Original: Twelve at the Table

Twelve at the Table NashvilleLately, I’ve been falling in love quickly (and over and over again) with so many new creative small businesses in Nashville. Maybe it’s because as a fellow small biz owner, I know how much sweat and soul goes into these ventures. Or maybe it’s because these businesses are too beautiful and utterly inspiring not to share. I think it’s a little of both. So I’ve decided to launch a new feature, Nashville Original, to spread the love. And the first apple of my eye is the amazingness that is Twelve at the Table, a family operation that, quite simple, makes private dinners for 12. But, as the pictures show, it’s much, much more than a simple meal. It’s an experience, and a gorgeous one at that.

As the family of five describes, Twelve at the Table provides “a community-centered, multi-sensory experience beginning with hand-crafted cocktails at twilight and ending with shared life stories by candlelight. With atmosphere and spirited conversation valued in equal measure, we strive to make setting our tables an art.” And aren’t those tablescapes artfully done?

Twelve at the Table NashvilleTwelve at the Table offers private dining for special events as well as communal evenings, where you break bread with like-minded folks also looking to be transported by the family’s freshly conceived, seasonally-inspired menus. Twelve at the Table had me at homemade limoncello and grilled farm bread, but this review put me over the top: “Was it a dream?” asked one diner. It certainly does look that way, doesn’t it?

Be sure to check out the site to see more gorgeous food photography and to read the family’s story. And thanks to Knitlaces creator and Porter Flea co-founder Katie Vance for putting these folks on my radar. – Elizabeth
