Rock Quarry Summer Engagement Session | Styled by Stockroom Vintage Event Rentals | Photos by Alissa SaylorHello, loves! I know the leaves are falling and there’s a chill in the air, but I’m thrilled to share this steamy summer session with you! This is one of the first sessions that I’ve styled without a lot of Stockroom Vintage rentals in tow. I wanted this love session to be sweet, simple and all about summer loving. I must admit, it’s a little strange to show up to a photo shoot without tons of vintage props, but it was so refreshing to focus solely on the concept + wardrobe styling for this session. And I’m so proud that Ruffled featured my styling in these lovely photos by Alissa Saylor!Rock Quarry Summer Engagement Session | Styled by Stockroom Vintage Event Rentals | Photos by Alissa Saylor Rock Quarry Summer Engagement Session | Styled by Stockroom Vintage Event Rentals | Photos by Alissa SaylorGoing forward, I want to share more details with you all about what inspires me when I’m creating the concept + styling + providing creative direction for photo shoots. There’s so much that goes into these sessions before the actual day of the photo shoot. I’m creating inspiration boards, gathering props, hunting down clothes and accessories, creating DIY decor and foraging for flowers, plants and any number of natural elements to get the look just right.Rock Quarry Summer Engagement Session | Styled by Stockroom Vintage Event Rentals | Photos by Alissa Saylor Rock Quarry Summer Engagement Session | Styled by Stockroom Vintage Event Rentals | Photos by Alissa Saylor Rock Quarry Summer Engagement Session | Styled by Stockroom Vintage Event Rentals | Photos by Alissa SaylorMy inspiration for this rock quarry engagement sessions started simply enough: I wanted to find a gorgeous body of water to create a sexy summer swimsuit session.  I approached friend and photographer Alissa with the idea, and she tracked down this forgotten rock quarry hidden in a small town a few hours outside of Nashville. And it just so happened that Alissa knew Haley and Eric, the perfect couple to model for us.Rock Quarry Summer Engagement Session | Styled by Stockroom Vintage Event Rentals | Photos by Alissa Saylor Rock Quarry Summer Engagement Session | Styled by Stockroom Vintage Event Rentals | Photos by Alissa Saylor Rock Quarry Summer Engagement Session | Styled by Stockroom Vintage Event Rentals | Photos by Alissa Saylor Rock Quarry Summer Engagement Session | Styled by Stockroom Vintage Event Rentals | Photos by Alissa SaylorThe way the amazing teal spring water reflected onto the walls of the cave created the perfect backdrop for the ethereal feel we envisioned for Haley and Eric’s love session. There is something so magical about this location. When Haley and Eric cuddled in the cave—and when they finally took a dip in that gorgeous water with the roses floating around them—it was absolutely dreamy.Rock Quarry Summer Engagement Session | Styled by Stockroom Vintage Event Rentals | Photos by Alissa Saylor Rock Quarry Summer Engagement Session | Styled by Stockroom Vintage Event Rentals | Photos by Alissa Saylor Rock Quarry Summer Engagement Session | Styled by Stockroom Vintage Event Rentals | Photos by Alissa SaylorAt the outset, I wanted to create a soft look for our model Haley–something that would provide the perfect contract to the hard, rough edges of the cut limestone at the quarry. I found this frothy tulle skirt and that luxe ruched swimsuit from J.Crew, also in tulle. We took a cue from the quarry itself when choosing her accessories. The bright green moss on the rocks and the untamed greenery were the inspiration for her handmade fern crown and the bouquet of ferns, and Alissa and I couldn’t resist tossing in some stone-inspired jewelry in water hues for good measure.Rock Quarry Summer Engagement Session | Styled by Stockroom Vintage Event Rentals | Photos by Alissa Saylor Rock Quarry Summer Engagement Session | Styled by Stockroom Vintage Event Rentals | Photos by Alissa Saylor Rock Quarry Summer Engagement Session | Styled by Stockroom Vintage Event Rentals | Photos by Alissa Saylor Rock Quarry Summer Engagement Session | Styled by Stockroom Vintage Event Rentals | Photos by Alissa SaylorAll in all, I wanted to design a session that would capture the beauty of the slow, sweltering sunsets I love during summertime. There is something magical about those warm nights—how they make you want to slow down and savor the last bit of summer. And there’s no better way to do that than to relax in a hammock or to find a secret spot for a swim with your love. I’m so glad that Alissa was able to capture my vision–and that Haley + Eric were able to truly get lost in the moment for this session. Aren’t they a gorgeous couple? So gorgeous! Anyway you can direct me to the location itself? is it possible to actually do an elopement there?

    • Unfortunately, the area is private. It’s full of “keep out” signs. 😉
