How to Style a Vintage-Inspired Picnic

The early arrival of spring in Nashville has me daydreaming about vintage-inspired picnics. I’m thinking of faded vintage quilts strewn across the grass, picnic baskets full of fruit from the farmer’s market and stacks of books to read on long, sun-drenched afternoons. Of course, all of this would make for one unbelievable picnic engagement photo shoot, don’t you think?

I’ve had this photo of Elsie from A Beautiful Mess tucked away in a Pinterest board for awhile. Doesn’t it evoke the most warm, lovely feeling? There is something so incredibly romantic about a picnic photo shoot. It only takes a few props to nail this look—a stack of old books, a picnic basket filled with a few pieces of heirloom china and perhaps a vintage transistor radio or suitcase for good measure. And, of course, your favorite hidden hideaway.

As visions of lovely picnics dance in our heads, let’s promise to enjoy the spring weather. Go outside. Ask your love to read a few pages from his favorite book. Enjoy the birds and blooms. Soon enough, the southern summer swelter will arrive—and we’ll all be far too hot and flustered to look this effortlessly blissful in photos.

Great ideas!  Love “Under our favorite tree.” What an awesome way to spend time with someone you love and get great photos too.

Come to Nashville! I’d style it to the nines…complete with a basket of berries, cheese and the cutest bottles of vintage soda you’ve ever seen. :) You and Kevin would be the sweetest muses of all time.
