Stockroom Vintage’s First Thanksgiving

This is Stockroom Vintage’s very first Thanksgiving since I launched my dream business in March of this year, and I must say that it’s been a dream, indeed. I have so very much to be thankful for! Each day is still equal parts exciting and dizzying as I realize over and over again that this dream is real and that so many kind, talented people have supported this indie biz…and me. I’ve met so many kindred vintage spirits–brides, couples, wedding planners, fellow wedding vendors, other creatives and people who just get why vintage is so special and why it should be shared and celebrated.

So I just wanted to express my most sincere thanks and gratitude to everyone who has ever shared a kind, encouraging word about Stockroom, cooed over a photoshoot I’ve styled or even simply liked a Facebook status. As any small biz owner can tell you, that kind of support means a lot. You all allow me to wake up every day, dig through piles of discarded vintage pieces begging for a better life and call it a job. You invite me into your homes and to your dinner tables to share my vintage china, to your engagement shoots to style your photos and to your weddings to spread the vintage love. Those are intimate places–places of love–and I’m honored to be there…every single time.

I’m also so very grateful for the people who have come into my life through Stockroom Vintage. When I started out, I didn’t know what to expect from the wedding industry, and what I’ve found has been the sweetest surprise. Vendors like Hillary of Brocade Designs and Stef of Stef Atkinson Photography and Becca and Jessie of Modern Vintage Events have been there to inspire and encourage me from the start–and partner with me on the kinds of styled shoots I used to only dream about. Oh, and then there’s Katie, co-creator of Porter Flea, and Jessica of The Budget Savvy Bride, who have been my go-to coffee dates. For all of you Type A, overachieving perfectionists out there, you know what it means to commiserate with other ladies who get it.

Then there are the ladies behind the scenes, the ones who help me lug farm tables to photoshoots, spend hours with me as we shoot tablescapes in a herb garden and scour thrift shops for the perfect vintage pieces. Jenna and Carissa, you have made every long trip all over Tennessee in a big ol’ cargo van far more fun than it should be. You have both been such a gift.

And, of course, I’m more grateful each day for my husband Will, who has carried every single piece of Stockroom’s inventory. My thoughtful partner, who wakes up at 5am on a Saturday to make me coffee before a photoshoot. My ever-patient hubby, who has sat in the middle of the living room floor with me at 3am on a Sunday morning, stringing up cotton ball garlands and the like because he knows what Stockroom means to me. There are days when I come home from an event, my arms aching from carrying impossibly large pieces of vintage furniture, and look at Will and my three crazy fur baby pups and feel like I would never dare to ask for anything more. I will be forever thankful.

I hope you all have a lovely Thanksgiving, one that allows you to be thankful and just be with the ones you love. - Elizabeth
